OS00EO40 Challenging interactions in nursing, practical training (3 cr)
Prerequisites 120 ECTS required.
Objectives Student
1. recognises challenging situations in nursing and work communities and am aware of my responsibility to intervene
situations.
2. practises how to deal with challenging communication and interaction situations
3. critically evaluates ethical behaviour and propose evidence-based solutions to challenging situations.
4. works safely and I secure working environment (e.g. in the client's home,
hospital and out-patient care unit)
5. justifies my actions based on national and international evidence.
Content 1. Challenging situations in nursing (ethics, interaction and communication, multiculturalism etc)
2. Considering work, patient and information safety in different working environments
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Student demonstrates skills by applying and consolidating knowledge and by practicing independently and in small groups.
Student participates in eHealth day (organised twice a year) and YleSH exam
Execution methods Student develops skills by learning about challenging situations, how to prevent them and how to deal with them. Student works responsibly and actively in a team. Student prepares for and practice in simulations.

Evaluation Criteria

1. As part of a group, student developes a simulation scenario of a challenging situation in nursing (e.g. ethics, interaction and communication, multiculturalism, safety, collegiality), according to national and international evidence.
2. Student assesses the safety of the working environment and identify dangerous situations.
3. Student presents solutions to challenging situations in nursing.
4. Act in a professional, ethical, collegial and safe manner in the role of the midwife / public health nurse, taking into account the area of responsibility.
