Prerequisites The student has completed 140 credits of studies in the nursing degree programme and studies in the field of antenatal and family nursing.
National examination of core competencies in nursing.
Objectives The student plans, implements and evaluates the monitoring of the health and well-being of pregnant women and families with children.
In collaboration with the family, the student supports and strengthens resources in a multidisciplinary way.
The student identifies risk factors associated with pregnancy and childbirth and refer for further investigations if necessary. Assessing the family's need for support in different life situations.
The student plans, implements and assess the mother's and foetus' well-being and the child's growth and development in a holistic way.
The student supports the child and his/her family in making choices that promote well-being and health and in the prevention of communicable diseases, in accordance with the national vaccination programme.
The student provides support and guidance on early interaction, parenting, relationships and family planning.
The student can guide families on breastfeeding issues.

Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods The Student demonstrate competences by applying and deepening knowledge and working independently and in small groups on course assignments and she/he practice in skills workshops and simulation exercises.
Execution methods The Student develop her/his skills by acquiring and using evidence-based knowledge about the work of pregnant women and family nursing.

The student know the basics of monitoring the health and well-being of pregnant women and families with children.
The student strengthen family resources and identify the multidisciplinary networks that support the work of the nurse.
