Objectives | Part 1 BASICS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDES AND OCCLUSION 1,5 ECTS. The student - gains basic knowledge of physiology of occlusion and common forms of the treatment - is able to assess temporomandibular disorders and occlusion as well as identify changes Part 2 ORTHODONTIC CARE 1,5 ECTS. The student is able to - describe general basics of orthodontic care - identify bite defects and refer the patient to a dentist if necessary - knows the role and tasks of a dental hygienist in an orthodontic team - give first aid for orthodontic treatment - give the patient advice and guidance, taking care of orthodontic appliances and oral hygiene |
Content | Part 1 BASICS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDES AND OCCLUSION 1,5 ECTS Anatomy of the bite system, clinical examination, typical physiological symptoms and findings, treatment, role of the oral hygienist in bite system´s physiological treatment. Part 2 ORTHODONTC CARE 1,5 ECTS Basics of orthodontic care. Development of dental occlusion, methods of treatment. Role of a dental hygienist in an orthodontic team. Study models, orthodontic appliances, principles of fixed / non-fixed orthodontic appliances, placing or adjusting archwires. Basics of clinical photography. |

satisfactory (1-2) Part 1 BASICS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDES AND OCCLUSION (1,5 ECTS) The student is able to - explain the normal anatomy of the bite system - study the main structures and functions involved in the examination of the bite system - identify bite system´s dysfunctions - participate in treatment when necessary - refer the client requiring treatment for further examination and treatment - inform the patient Part 2 ORTHODONTC CARE 1,5 ECTS The student is able to utilize the necessary terminology and describe the knowledge, factors and phenomena related to learning contents as well as perform the tasks related to his/her area of responsibility. good (3-4) Part 1 BASICS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDES AND OCCLUSION (1,5 ECTS) The student is able to - explain the normal anatomy and normal function of the bite system - study the main structures and functions involved in the examination of the bite system - identify and inform patient about bite system´s dysfunctions - participate in treatment - refer the patient requiring treatment for further examination and treatment - inform the patient and relatives Part 2 ORTHODONTC CARE 1,5 ECTS The student is able to versatile utilize the necessary terminology; describe and apply the knowledge, factors and phenomena related to learning contents as well as perform the tasks related to his/her area of responsibility. excellent (5) Part 1 BASICS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDES AND OCCLUSION (1,5 ECTS) The student is able to - explain the normal anatomy and normal function of the bite system - study the main structures and functions involved in the examination of the bite system - identify and inform patient about bite system´s dysfunctions - participate in the treatment by her-/himself - refer the patient requiring treatment for further examination and treatment - inform the patient and relatives as well as other staff Part 2 ORTHODONTC CARE 1,5 ECTS The student is able to fluently utilize the necessary terminology; describe, apply and evaluate the knowledge, factors and phenomena related to learning contents as well as perform the tasks related to his/her area of responsibility. |
