Prerequisites | The previous training must have been successfully completed. |
Objectives | Part 1.BASICS OF ERGONOMICS (1 ECTS) The student gains basic knowledge of ergonomics and work ability as well as demonstrates knowledge, understanding and practical skills of their maintenance. Part 2. PERIODONTOLOGICAL CARE (3 ECTS) The student has gained knowledge about methods of periodontological treatment. The student demonstrates ability to use the periodontological equipment in educational simulations. Part 3. SUPERVISED PRACTICAL TRAINING (4 ECTS) The student develops knowledge and skills necessary to implement the care of patient undergoing periodontal treatment and perform preventive oral care procedures. |
Content | Part 1.BASICS OF ERGONOMICS 1 ECTS Ergonomics. Maintenance of work ability and well-being at work. Part 2.PERIODONTOLOGICAL CARE 3 ECTS Use of periodontal probe instrument, Hand instruments and use of hand instruments, use of Ultrasonic scalers, use of The air-flow powder appliance. Dental hand instruments sharpening. Lifecare Dental systems practise. Part 3.SUPERVISED PRACTICAL TRAINING 4 ECTS Periodontological treatment: assessment of the need for the care, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care. Usage of software solution used in Dentopolis. |

pass/fail Part 1.BASICS OF ERGONOMICS 1 ECTS The student recognizes and follows the principles of ergonomics in the work of a dental hygienist. Part 2. PERIODONTOLOGICAL CARE 3 ECTS The student is able to perform a periodontal treatment check in a simulation environment and use hand instruments and an ultrasonic calculus extractor in simulation exercises. Identify the basic elements of ergonomics in the work of an oral hygienist. Part 3.SUPERVISED PRACTICAL TRAINING 4 ECTS Grading scale pass/fail. Assessment of the course is based on the active participation and learning outcomes of the student. After this practical training the student - is able to assess patient´s need for periodontal treatment - shows ability to utilize evidence based theory into practice - under supervision plans, carries out and evaluates patient´s treatment - uses both manual instruments and ultrasonic within patient´s periodontal treatment - follows recommended principles of ergonomics |
