OT00DF12 Social Service System (5 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites. The studies are also suitable for those who speak Finnish as a second language. Studies include work or practical training in the social services.

The study module 15 ECTS comprises three courses of 5 ECTS credits. They can be studied as additional education for 15 ECTS credits or as separate 5 ECTS credits. Basics of Social work 5 ects, Legislation in social work 5 ects and Social services system 5 ects.
Objectives The student identify the social service system by sector (public, private, third and fourth sectors).
The student recognize the social service system as part of a broader social and health service system.
The student identify the client's service needs and describe the assessment of service needs.
The student identify the challenges of Social work from the perspective of both the client and the employees.
The student describe social guidance that promotes well-being and is customer-oriented.
The student apply a developmental approach to work and identify development needs in your own work in the Social services.

Social work as advocacy work, 2 -3 ects or Finnish 1
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.

The students apply their expertise in social services systems in an excellent, versatile, and extensive manner.
The student professionally plans the assessment of service needs that supports the client's agency and makes ethically sustainable choices.
The student evaluates with excellent knowledge and criticality the sources of information, expert knowledge and legislation and justifies them by applying and combining theory and professional experience.
