7T00DE94 Child Welfare (5 cr)
Prerequisites First year studies.
Objectives The student understands and adopts the ideology and principles of child welfare. The student assesses the best interests and the needs of the child, and organizes working in a way, that is in the best interest of the child. The student assesses the child welfare work, services and multisectoral cooperation promoting the wellbeing of children and families. The student adopts welfare-oriented and developmental-minded approach in child welfare.
Content Good-enough childhood and children´s rights. The best interests of the child. Promotive and preventive child welfare. Child- and family-specific child welfare. Open care, emergency placement, taking into care, substitute care, after-care. Ideology, principles, norms and legislation and ethical principles in child welfare.
