Description


TW00ED85 Introduction to Automation, Electrical and Technical Building Systems (10 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites
Objectives Student is able to describe the role, equipment and fuctions of automation. He/she is able to interpret and create basic documents related to automation design and project management, and is familiar with key standards. The student is able to depict the lifecycle and central design phases of automation. The student is familiar with the most common automation solutions in use, as well as and future technologies.

The student is proficient in using typical CAD software and can interprest and create diagrams and documents for typical low-voltage networks and their systems in buildings.

The student understands the basics of programming. The student can use fundamental programming language structures to implement small-scale programs.

Occupational safety competence
Content Contains:
Automation Engineering 4 cr
Programming 3 cr
CAD 3 cr

Tasks and hierarchy of automation. Basics of control engineering. Description of automation functions. Standards, documentation and design projects in automation design. Examples of automation solutions. Future of automation. Safety automation.

Usage of CAD software. Operating principles of example cases.

Basic principles of programming. Basic program structures. Control and loop structures. Variables and arrays. Strings, records, input, and output streams. Subroutines.

Completing of the required occupational safety training specific to the field.

You can describe the aspects and tasks of automation. You are familiar with the key standards and basic documents of automation. You can use typical CAD software. You understand the functioning of statement-based programs and can seek additional information for interpreting and editing programs.

You can use basic programming language structures. You can understand and describe the functioning of parts of a program created by someone else.

You can interpret documents related to automation design and project management.

You can apply basic programming language structures in implementing small-scale programs and use libraries. You can understand and describe the functioning of a program created by someone else.
