Description
TW00EB57 | Basics of High-Voltage Technology and Protection of Electricity Networks (5 cr) |
Prerequisites | Basics of Three-Phase Circuits and Electric Distribution Networks |
Objectives | The student will identify the main components of High-Voltage engineering and seems the main principles of High-Voltage dimensioning. The student can describe the typical fault conditions in the power electricity network and their main protection principles. Student can calculate the electrical quantities in fault conditions and use the calculated data to determine fuse protection or protective relay settings. The student will be able to identify the structural integrity of the network management system and the principles of the associated functions and different busses solutions. |
Content | Basics of High-Voltage engineering, equipment and components, basic dimensioning and protection. Faults in the power system, basic principles and implementation of fuse and relay protection. Arcing and surge protection solutions. Purpose of network management support systems, remote access, operation control and operation support systems, control rooms, substation communication, communication links. |
Recommended optional programme components | If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan. |
