TW00EB31 Basics of Electrical Engineering and Safety (5 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives After the course the student is able to name the basic quantities of electric circuits and can apply the fundamental principles to solve the properties of simple circuits. The student can recognize the dangers of electricity and is also able to protect him-/herself against them. The student is familiar with the most important electrical safety regulations. Within laboratory exercises the student can work in a safe manner and is also able to use normal electrical measuring devices.
Content DC and AC circuits and their basic quantities and fundamental principles. Structures and distinctive characteristics of AC networks. Electric shock and first aid. Protection against electrical hazards. Electrical safety regulations and standards. Use of electrical measuring instruments.
Includes electrical safety card training.
