Prerequisites | Industrial Electronics and AC Circuits, or equivalent. |
Objectives | Student can identify the most common types of electrical motors and is able to classify and select the usage characteristics. Student is able to describe the structures of conventional electrical machinery, their operating principles and characteristics. Student is able to calculate the normal load power requirements, and is able to choose a suitable motor and components. |
Content | Conventional DC and AC electrical machines, permanent magnet machines and small motors. Electrical machinery, operating procedures and connection of the electricity network. Electrical motor selection factors and a single motor choice. The design and selection of the main circuit components. Controlled laboratory exercises or simulation. Provides skills for future project. |
