Objectives | The student knows the practices of road and street maintenance. The student knows the content of road and street maintenance contracts, quality requirements, human resource requirements, materials to be used and maintenance equipment. The student knows the road and street pavings, their raw materials, design and construction. They understand the different types of pavement applications and their properties, as well as the condition of monitoring measurement methods. The student knows the basic English terminology connected to traffic routes and also masters the terminology connected to paving and maintenance techniques. They are able to convey written and/or oral presentations of the topics. Level B2 (CEFR) |
Content | The course includes integrated English language studies (2 credit points). The scope of paving techniques is 1,5 credit points and also of maintenance techniques 1,5 credit points. Maintenance of roads and streets, contracts, quality requirements, working methods as well as implementation. Maintenance equipment. Paving with asphalt, binding agents, aggregates, additives, pavement design. manufacturing and asphalting pavement. Raw material and pavement tests as well as quality control. Road condition measurements. Paving redevelopment. The basic terminology of the subject in English. Written and oral exercises about how to apply the paving techniques and maintenance procedures. Oral and/or written presentations about the said topics. |
