TF00DW97 Building Planning Basic Competence 1 (8 cr)

Objectives Building Design 4ects
Student can understand architecture as conceptual design. Understand analytical approaches to site, context, place, function, material, lightning and colours. Can produce drawings and visualisation by 3D-modelling for small building. Student understands basics of composition and can apply it to architectural planning.
Student is able to make esthetical conclusions of compositional planning.

House Construction 2ects
To know and be able to explain the conditions affecting construction and the basic concepts of building physics, as well as the impact on design solutions.
To know with key construction legislation, building regulations, and information sources.
To know and be able to explain the parts of the foundation, frame and casing of detached houses and their functional principles.

Building modelling 2ects
Can produce by 3D-modeling geometry and drawings of single house.
Content Building Design 4ects
The National Building Code of Finland, essential significance of urban planning and the role of administration in building. Building design of a small building. Basic planning issues of accommodation.
Conceptual architectural design, meanings and architectural equipment. Basics of composition. Basic composition practices: space, place, sorm, light, material, colour, contrast, movement and rhythm.

House Construction 2 ects
The environment of the building, natural conditions and their role in building construction.
Basic concepts of building physics and functional requirements for building components.
Key building regulations and factors affecting the energy and moisture performance of buildings.
Parts of the foundation, frame and casing of small houses and their functional principles.
Site visits. Key sources of information in the field.

Building Modelling 2 ects
3D-modelling of an one-family house. Plans, elevations, sections and detail drawings including professional drawing notes. Creating master plans. Printing layout.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
