TF00DL36	Renovation Building Design 1 (5 cr)
Prerequisites	No prerequisites needed.
Objectives	Building Design: To know small-scale objects alteration- and renovation building design. To know detached houses special features of building design in renovation, compared to new building. To be able to estimate the effects reparations have on the functional and architectural quality of a detached house. To know energy efficiency solutions in smaller scale buildings. To be able to find solutions for accessibility and energy efficiency in small-scale houses. To understand the link between renovation and conservation. To know the stages in building design process of refurbishment. To know the roles and responsibilities of principal designer in renovation projects. To be able to plan ordinary building projects and use drawing markings of renovation. Renovation projects: To know the special features of renovating detached apartment buildings. To have skills for renovation project work and renovation design of small-scale buildings. To knowthe economical aspects in design of renovation of a small-scale buildings and to know the basics for estimating the costs.
Content	Building Design: Modification/reparation in building design of small-scale houses of rebuilding era and after, their special features and solutions of design architecturally, technically and financially. Conservation and refurbishment, authority and their roles. Various building special and functional regulations for past time small-scale buildings. Principal designer in reconstruction projects. Building permits for small scale houses repair work. Project work for a smaller scale apartment buildings refurbishment/repair. Renovation projects: Project planning and costs in a renovation project. Building inventory, assessment and investigation of condition in small-scale projects. Carrying through renovation projects of detached apartment buildings, their supervision, management, implementation. Contracts, design documents, prime designers role in a renovation project.
