OQ00EH64 Professional Training of Angiography Examinations and Interventions (6 cr)
Prerequisites Prerequisites, theory course and drug calculation task completed with approval: Asiakaslähtöiset angiografiaitutkimukset ja -toimenpiteet
Objectives The student is able to guide the patient individually throughout the process in common angiography examinations and interventions using different guidance methods.
The student knows the radiographer's role, area of responsibility and importance of communication as an important part of safe multi-professional cooperation.
The student is able to operate flexibly as a team member, considering the patient's condition and situation.
The student is able to use patient data in planning angiography examination and interventions. The student is able to assist in monitoring and managing the patient's respiration, circulation, fluid balance, pain and temperature. The student is able to administer medication safely. The student is able to guide the patient in the follow-up care and assists with pressing the puncture site.
Students is able to implement infection control methods and aseptic working practices.
The student is able to plan, perform and evaluate angiography examinations and interventions as a team member safely, optimized and with quality.
The student is able to use the equipment, instruments and methods for angiography appropriately and responsibly. The student is able to act as an assisting instrument nurse under the supervision of a radiographer.
The student is able to document the examination and intervention to ensure continuity of care.
The student is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient data and complies with data protection policies.
The student implements radiation safety culture and identifies radiation safety problems. The student is able to apply the principles of radiation protection and optimization to the patient, the patient support person and the multidisciplinary team. The student understands the factors affecting image quality and is able to perform common quality assurance procedures. The student identifies reference doses for angiography examinations and interventions.
The student is able to act in accordance with the safety practices of the training unit. The student recognizes the first aid preparedness of the radiology unit and is able to act as a team member in emergency situations.
The student is self-directed and takes responsibility for his/ her own learning.
The student is able to act as a team member, demonstrating good working life skills through behavior.
The student is able to act in accordance with the principles of economic and sustainable development.
Content Angiography examinations and interventions. Guiding and caring for the patient/client in angiography examinations and interventions. Observation and follow-up of the patient/client. Safe use of contrast agents and first aid preparedness. Ergonomics and asepsis. Adoption of safe working practices in angiography examinations and interventions. Quality assurance and optimization of radiation exposure. The radiographer as an implementer of multi-professional cooperation.
