OQ00EH61 Mammography examinations and interventions, clinical training (3 cr)
Prerequisites Prerequisites, theory course completed with approval: OQ00DW15 Asiakaslähtöiset mammografia- ja ultraäänitutkimukset ja -toimenpiteet
Objectives The student understands the care pathway of the client/patient from screening to follow-up and clinical mammography.
The student is able to apply different guidance methods to guide patients individually in mammography examinations and interventions throughout the process.
The student is able as a team member to operate flexibly, considering the patient's condition and situation.
The student is able to implement infection control methods in his/her work.
The student is able as a team member to plan, perform and evaluate mammography examinations and interventions safely, optimized and with quality. The student will also demonstrate his/her skills by means of an examination.
In carrying out examinations and interventions, the student is able to use the equipment and method intended for the examination and intervention appropriately and responsibly.
The student is able to document the examination and the intervention in order to ensure continuity of care.
The student is responsible in maintaining confidentiality of patient data and complies with data protection policies.
The student implements radiation safety culture as a team member and identifies radiation safety problems.
The student is able to perform quality assurance tests ensuring radiation safety and understand the relevance of the results to quality assurance.
The student is able to act in accordance with the safety practices of the clinical training unit. The student recognizes the first aid preparedness of the radiology unit and is able to work as a team member in emergency situations.
The student is self-directed and takes responsibility for his/ her own learning.
The student is able to review his/her approach to mammography from the perspective of work ergonomics.
Content Mammography examinations and mammography-guided interventions. Guiding and caring for the patient/client in mammography examinations and procedures. Observation and follow-up of the patient/client. Safe use of contrast agents and first aid preparedness. Ergonomics and asepsis. Adoption of safe working practices in mammography imaging and procedures. Quality assurance and optimization of radiation exposure. The radiographer as an implementer of multi-professional cooperation. Skill test.
