Prerequisites | Professional studies in Radiation Therapy must be passed (including drug dosage calculation). |
Objectives | Students is able to plan, carry out and evaluate radiotherapy safely and with high quality. The student is able to use the radiotherapy equipment and methods appropriately and responsibly. The student is able to implement patient-centered, individual and holistic patient guidance at different stages of the patient pathway. The student is able to monitor the patient's overall health and give guidance to the patients in the most common radiotherapy procedures. The student is able to document patient information and ensure continuity of care. The student recognises the importance of multidisciplinary work and is able to draw on the expertise of other professional groups. The student is able to work as a member of a team, demonstrating good work skills. The student is able to apply professional ethics to his/her own and the work community's activities. The student is self-directed and take responsibility for his/her own learning. The student is able to act flexibly in changing situations and to recognise and anticipate exceptional situations. The student is able to act in accordance with the safety practices of the unit. The student recognises the emergency preparedness of the unit and is able to work as part of a team in emergency situations. The student is be able to implement infection control methods in his/her practice. The student is able to act in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The student is responsible in maintaining confidentiality of patient data and comply with data protection policies. The students is able to plan, implement and evaluate an evidence-based information task. |
Content | External and internal radiation therapy. Radiation protection in radiation therapy. Radiation treatment planning and carrying out radiotherapy. Side effects of radiation therapy and treatment of them. Patient-centered and holistic care for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Quality of the art of radiotherapy. Elements of good quality of care and ethical issues in the art of radiation therapy. Radiotherapy equipment and quality assurance. Radiographer´s role in the interprofessional collaboration. |
