OQ00EH58 Professional Training of X-ray Examinations II (6 cr)
Prerequisites The student has passed the following studies: Radiological Procedures of X-ray Examinations, Professional Training of X-ray Examinations I.
Objectives Part 1. (5 ECTS) Professional Training of X-ray Examinations II
The student is able to apply different guidance methods to guide patients individually throughout the examination process.
The student is able to act flexibly as a team member, considering the patient's condition and situation.
The student is able to implement infection control methods in his/her practice.
The student is able to plan, perform and evaluate radiological examinations safely, optimized and with quality. The student also demonstrates his/her skills with a skill test.
The student is able to use the equipment and methods intended for the examination appropriately and responsibly.
The student is able to document the examination in order to ensure continuity of care.
The student is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient data and complies with data protection policies.
The student implements radiation safety culture as a team member and identify radiation safety problems.
The student is able to act in accordance with the safety practices of the clinical training unit. The student recognizes the first aid preparedness of the radiology unit and is able to act as a team member in emergency situations.
The student is self-directed and takes responsibility for his/her own learning.
The student is able to work as a team member, demonstrating good working life skills through behavior.
The student is able to act in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.


The student can perform the thorax examination without endangering the patient's vital functions of breathing, blood circulation, or temperature and aims to minimize the patient's pain during the examination. The student can perform infection control according to the patient's situation. The student can optimize patient dose. The student can perform x-ray examinations in a safe manner and inform others who are involved about the radiation. The student familiarizes her/himself with the security system in her/his clinical placement and is prepared for acting under unusual conditions in the work environment.

Part 2.. (1 ECTS) Professional Development in Radiography and Radiation Therapy
The student gains knowledge about the department of radiology or radiotherapy as an operating environment and its needs for development and leadership. The student develops skills necessary for quality assurance procedures, professional decision-making, empowerment, and development. The student evaluates her/his professional skills and future challenges taking into account the responsibilities of the radiation protection officer (RPO).
Content Part 1. (5 ECTS) X-ray examinations of the respiratory organs and the skeletal system and special radiographic projections. Radiation dose optimization in X-ray examinations. Imaging in intensive care departments or in similar circumstances.Skill test. Simulation?

Part 2. (1 ECTS) Professional Development in Radiography and Radiation Therapy: Advanced professional training in the department of radiology or radiotherapy.
