Description

OQ00CT85 Client Oriented CT and MRI Examinations and Procedures (4 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites
Objectives The student familiarizes him/herself with computed tomography scanning, magnetic resonance imaging and both CT- and MRI-guided procedures, in which the established patient safety criteria will be taken into account. The student understands the basics of radiation dose optimization in computed tomography examinations. The student gains skills needed in using contrast media and in the treatment of reactions due to them. During the computed tomography scanning or magnetic resonance imaging procedures, the student demonstrates the ability to recognize changes from the norms in the care of adult and elderly patients. The student has knowledge about CT and MRI practices in radiographers' work.
Content Part 1. (2 ECTS): Computed tomography examinations. Procedures under computed tomography guidance. Patient guidance and nursing care during computed tomography examinations. Patient dose optimization in computed tomography examinations.

Part 2. (2 ECTS): Magnetic resonance imaging. Procedures under magnetic resonance imaging guidance. Patient guidance and nursing care during magnetic resonance imaging. Safety culture in magnetic resonance imaging.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods The student demonstrates competence through written and other assignments.
Execution methods The student develops skills by active learning, acquiring knowledge and practicing.
