OG00DH42 Appreciative culture in human resources management (5 cr)

Objectives 1. The student evaluates the importance of appreciate organizational and leadership culture in management.
2. The student understands the importance of appreciating organizational communication in the digital world and evaluates the impact of different communication methods and tools in strengthening organizational communication and operations
3. The student evaluates and develops activities that promote well-being at work and work ability in a changing working life.
4. The student evaluates the importance and benefits of self-management from the perspective of well-being at work and the functioning of the work community. He analyzed ways to promote their own physical, mental and social well-being.
5. The student analyzes his / her growth in human resource management
6. The student understands the guiding elements of labor law in the management of an organization
Content Organizational culture - organizational communication - appreciative and participatory operating culture in leadership - well-being at work / ability to work - knowledge management - self-management - labor law

Execution methods The course workshops will be conducted as webinars. Otherwise, learning takes place in the Moodle learning environment. The course may involve cooperation with companies, the third sector and public organisations.

1. The student learns about the areas of good and appreciative management (e.g. planned management, equality (trust, fairness, respectful encounter), competence management and management and promotion of well-being at work (work climate, occupational health and interaction) and related studies and reflect them in the management of his/her field. Students will identify the conditions for supportive and appreciative leadership in organizational culture. Reflect on the characteristics of an appreciative organizational and leadership culture in the context of their field of activity. Students will analyse conflict situations in the workplace and create solutions to promote a functional and respectful workplace.
2. The student becomes familiar own communication style and the impact of different communication styles on the functioning of the workplace. The student reflects on and suggests ways to build respect, trust, commitment, and motivation with people who communicate in different ways. The student describes own negotiation and feedback skills.
3. The student becomes familiar with the key concepts and processes of well-being at work and work performance management and will reflect on and describe them. The student assesses the dynamics of a well-functioning workplace and the importance of promoting psychosocial and physical well-being at work. The student assesses the importance of promoting organizational well-being and work capacity from the perspective of job performance and staff. The student uses measures and methods to promote and strengthen organizational well-being and work capacity.
4. The student becomes familiar with the concept of self-management and reflect on its importance and benefits for well-being at work and the functioning of the work community. The student reflects on personal capacities and development needs in self-management and describe how self-management reinforcement methods could be used.
5. The student describes his/her own understanding of human nature, values and his/her growth as a manager - He/she understands how values influence attitudes and the functioning of the work community.
6. The student uses research and expert sources in dealing with the given topics, with emphasis on expert sources.
