OJ00BW45 Methods of Research and Knowledge Production (10 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives 1. The student knows how to describe, using evidence-based methods and knowledge systems, reviews as the background of the topic of his research and development work.
2. The student knows how to carry out his research or development work of information search in accordance with the information search strategy, evaluates the information search results and separates the concepts caused by his topic.
3. The student knows how to use the methodological quality evaluation criteria when evaluating scientific studies.
4. The student can evaluate various research and data production methods as part of research development.
5. The student knows how to use qualitative analysis methods and basic and multivariate methods of statistical reasoning in the study of research materials.
6. The student can critically assess the reliability of qualitative and quantitative research and the ethics of research activities as part of research development.
7. The student knows how to apply safe, good scientific practice in expert communication and scientific writing.
Content Researched and evidence-based information, evidence-based social and health care, and rehabilitation, expert communication, scientific writing, good scientific practice, scientific information retrieval, research and development process, purpose and goal of research and development work, different research and data production methods, evaluation of qualitative and quantitative studies and checklists for methodological quality assessment of studies, qualitative and quantitative research methods as part research development, analysis of qualitative materials, analysis of quantitative materials (basic statistical and multivariate methods), factors related to reliability and ethics in research development utilizing qualitative and quantitative research, planning a work-oriented thesis.
