LY00BR38 Utilization of Geographic Information in Developing and Planning (5 cr)
Prerequisites -
Objectives The student is able to utilize geographic information in development work, planning activities and executive functions in his/her own field. The student is able to obtain geographic data and manage it using GIS software. The student is able to draw up thematic maps from spatial data resources for decision making purposes. The student can explain the principles of GIS analyses and their advantages related to his/her own field.
Content Basics of GIS and main concepts.
Local and regional geographic data.
Producers and availability of geographic data.
Utilization of GIS in development work, planning activities and executive functions.
Management, visualization and analysis of geographic information.
Basics of GPS and utilization of GPS devices.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
