Objectives | The student is able to apply his / her skills in customer service. He is able to discuss and guide the customer in both lens and frame choices. The student is able to carry out spectacle repairs and dispensing spectacles. The student is able to determine objective and subjective distance and near refraction and verify prescription for different patient groups. The student is able to guide the customer in the basics of the use and care of contact lenses. The student recognizes the stages of contact lens fitting and is able to discuss the selection of contact lenses and contact lens fitting. The student is able to fit soft contact lenses. The student becomes acquainted with the screening of eye diseases. The student gets acquainted with the professional operating environment. The student works in the health care unit in a customer-oriented manner, applies the researched information in practice and follows the ethical principles of his or her field. He is able to follow the principles of occupational and patient safety. The student becomes acquainted with digital patient information and examination systems. The student is able to act taking into account adequate infection control |
Content | Customer service with different patient groups, spectacle lens handling and identification, basic repairs and bending of eyeglasses frames, smooth use of a lens meter, lens grinding, inspection of finished pairs and dispensing of spectacles. Eye examination; history, screening procedures and general measurements, objective and subjective refraction for different age groups. Contact lens product ranges, slit lamp microscopy and spherical soft contact lens fitting and instruction. Familiarization with screening for eye diseases. Professional operating environment and action in emergency situations. Infection control. |
