Description
OM00CV20 | Visual Perception (4 cr) |
Prerequisites | Not applicable |
Objectives | The student gains knowledge about the perceptual process and how perception can be measures. The student is able to describe the principles of form and motion perception. The student understands the main features of contrast vision and contrast sensitivity. The student has an understanding about normal and impaired colour vision. The student is able to measure contrast and colour vision and has an understanding what kind of impact an impaired colour vision might have on the subject. The student is able to describe the normal dimension of the visual field and use static and dynamic perimetry to measure visual fields. |
Content | Perceptual process, transduction, transmission, recognition, and action Measuring perception & thresholds, signal detection theory, ROC-curve Visual pathway, neural processing, receptive fields, lateral inhibition Contrast vision and contrast sensitivity Perceptual thresholds Spatial and temporal summation Temporal perception, Critical flicker fusion frequency Motion perception, apparent motion, motion after images Space and depth perception Normal and impaired color vision Dimension of normal visual field Perimetry (static-threshold, static-subthreshold (screening), dynamic) Assessment of color and contrast vision Static and dynamic visual field assessment |
