Description


OS00DX24 Clinical Nursing Skills 2 (5 cr)
Prerequisites 1st year, 1st semester courses are passed without deficits
Objectives The student is able to act aseptically and safely in the different phases of the treatment of patients with common diseases and surgical patients.
The student knows the main examination and treatment procedures required in the care of patients with infectious diseases and surgical patients.
The student will understand the role of guidance as part of the overall care of the patient.
Content Clinical Nursing Skills: Nursing care in chronic diseases

Airway Management and Ventilation
Enteral nutrition and nasogastric tube insertion
Urinary catheterisation
Intravenous cannulation
Intravenous Therapy (Fluid, Medication and Nutrition)
Blood transfusion
ECG recording and interpretation
Intraoperative care
Perioperative care
Nursing Care of Internal Medicine Patients
Wound Care Management
Diabetic care and management
Palliative care

Competence-based assessment.
The student:
- independently performs the examinations and treatments necessary for the care of a common diseases and surgical patient, without compromising patient safety, as well as evaluates the effectiveness of the treatment.

Further Information If the student has completed equivalent studies at another university of applied sciences or if the competence can be demonstrated, identified and recognised in another way, e.g. through a certificate or an examination, the clinical skills labs can be approved on the basis of the previously acquired competence.
