MM00EI84 Orientation to Studies and Theory of Sound Technology (5 cr)
Prerequisites Music as a hobby, elementary knowledge about music theory and music technology.
Objectives I understand the structure of music technology competence path as part of music pedagogue studies.
I evaluate my own existing competences and development needs in relation to the competence goals of the music technology competence path.
I understand music technology as a wide phenomenon related to most professions in fields of performing and audiovisual arts.
I get familiar with the students, teachers, facilities and systems of the music technology major.
I know the main principles of modern audio technology and can apply my knowledge.
I understand the basic concepts of the field and perceive sound as an acoustic phenomenon.
I can use the key tools of music technology.
Content In the course, you will get to know the competence goals and contents of the music technology competence path. During the study period, you will get to know the students, teachers and learning environments of the major subject group. Students evaluate their own existing competences and development needs relative to the competence path. The study course broadly covers various professions and expertise areas of music technology in the field of culture. Sound is studied as physical phenomenon and we learn about the characteristics and operation of audio technology. Common music technology tools and audio systems are covered.
