MM00EC21 Theological Studies (10 cr)

Objectives I know the theological significance of church music in different denominations and the special features of Finnish Lutheran church music. I understand the life of worship as the center of the congregation's activities and mainly master the structures and theological content of the different types of worship services of our own tradition, especially the mass and moments of prayer.
I know the birth of the books of the Bible and the importance of the Bible for the Christian church. I know the most significant documents related to the confession and doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and their most important content and their effects on ethical issues.
Content Theological studies (10 ECTS) consists of sections:
- Theology of church music (2.5 credits)
- Liturgy (2.5 credits)
- Bible knowledge (2.5 credits)
- Christian faith and ethics (2.5 credits)

Biblical foundations of church music and their influence on church music and on the cantor's post. Biblical foundations of church service, structure and history of the Mass and prayer meetings, holy ceremonies of the church, ecclesiastical year, ecclesiastical symbols and an overview of the church services of different churches.
Core content and interpretation of the Bible, fundamental questions in dogmatics and ethics.
