K1325LI Basics in Labour Law (3 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives Students can define the key starting points, concepts and principles of labour law. Students can describe the standard system of labour law and recognise the difference between labour law and civil servant law. Students are able to define employers' and employees' rights and obligations in particular with respect to payroll. They identify the different grounds for termination of employment and consequences of unfair dismissal. Students identify the basic principles of staff's right to participate. The goal of the study module is that the student knows the entities described in the contents to the extent required.
Content Issues related to employment: signing an employment contract, employees' and employers' obligations, termination of employment, security of employment, staff's participation right. Issues related to occupational safety: administration and laws, working hours, annual leave. Collective agreement system.
