TK00DV75 Manufacturing techniques 1 (5 cr)
Prerequisites Not applicable
Objectives The student is able to describe typical manufacturing methods concerning sheets, bodies of revolution and prismatic parts. The student is able to measure the manufactured parts and understand the basics of measuring errors. The student has basic skills of engineering reporting.
Content Basic methods of metal cutting, thermal cutting methods, jointing methods and the manufacture of casting products. The course includes laboratory exercises.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Close and distance teaching and guided laboratory work
Execution methods The reporting part will be carried out as part of the Workplace Communication Skills course.

Evaluation Criteria satisfactory (1-2)
Identify the most common manufacturing methods used in the workshop. You can make simple machine workshop measurements using traditional instruments. The student can identify a single mold and a permanent moulding method.

good (3-4)
You are able to choose the manufacturing methods for simple engineering products. You justify the measuring instruments you have chosen and interpret the measurement results correctly. The student identify different single and permanent moulding methods.

excellent (5)
You justify your chosen manufacturing techniques according to production and economic criteria. You analyse independently generated measurement results by comparing the given goals. The student can choose the right casting method, considering the casting material.
