Description


TK00BP70 Advanced Course in Manufacturing (10 cr)
Prerequisites Basics of Manufacturing and quality.
Objectives After completing the study module, student masters the essential manufacturing methods used in mechanical engineering industry. The student is capable of selecting appropriate manufacturing methods for different kind of products being aware of cost, productivity and quality factors.
The student can apply knowledge of welding metallurgy and welding methods to different materials as well as the manufacture of piping and pressure vessels.
S/he is familiar with the most usual techniques of sheet metal machining and joining techniques and knows the basic sheet metal machines.
S/he is able to program numerically controlled machines and can read and write NC-program code for machining.
The student is able to create and transfer 2- and 3-dimensional geometry from computer-aided design to computer-aided manufacturing and to use a computer-aided manufacturing software.

- Welding of steel and other metal products
- Welding of pipe lines and pressure vessels.
- Quality control of welding work.
- Qualification of welders
- The economy of welding work

(Sheet metal work (3 ECTS)

- Sheet metal work; planning and processing
- Sheet metal work machinery
- Finishing of sheet metal work
- Quality criteria for sheet metal work

Advanced manufacturing techniques (3 ECTS)

- NC machines
- NC programming
- NC machines and computer aided 3D planning in production
- Data transfer in NC systems
