OK00EI03 Fundamentals of Professionalism and Health Promotion in Midwifery (7 cr)

Objectives Professional practice of a midwife (5 cr)
I know the history of midwifery and the development of nursing and I am familiar with the future opportunities and challenges of midwifery.
I understand the relevance of scientific research, evidence-based nursing and ethics to midwifery and midwifery practice
I know the key concepts and competency requirements of nursing science as part of midwifery work
I understand the importance of professionalism, ethics and nursing legislation for nursing
I know what client and family orientation, cultural sensitivity and internationality mean in midwifery.

I will practice the documentation of the nursing decision-making process that I studied in the Basic Nursing Skills course

Health promotion in midwifery (2 ECTS)
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.

Execution methods I develop my skills by acquiring and analysing knowledge, working independently and in small groups on course assignments and actively participating in all teaching (lectures, workshops, tutorials and simulation classes).

I can describe the importance of professionalism and legislation in nursing and carry out nursing based on legislation.
I understand the diversity of sexual and reproductive health and midwifery work and recognise the importance of ethics as part of midwifery work


Health promotion in midwifery 2 ECTS:
I define the key concepts and content areas of health, well-being and health promotion and the different levels of health promotion
I justify health promotion as professional activity
I Describe the factors that determine health at individual, community and population level and understand the role of health promotion in reducing health inequalities
I recognize the project-based way of working.
