Description


OF00DW13 Teaching and Guiding in Physiotherapy (11 cr)
Prerequisites Competence in therapeutic training according to the curriculum.
Objectives Psychology of rehabilitation:
Student recognize the significance of various changes in the life situation for a person's well-being, functional capacity and rehabilitation. Student understand the psychological factors involved in a person's individual rehabilitation readiness and process. Student can describe the needs and forms of support and services of psychosocial support for clients and professionals.

Motor learning, physical activity didactics, teaching and guidance in physiotherapy:
Student understand the principles of teaching and guidance in guiding an individual and a group. Student plan and steer group activities in a goal-oriented manner. Student know the importance of a secure and confidential control relationship. Student know the factors that affect health behaviour and is aware of customer-oriented guidance needs and is able to promote and strengthen people's health and well-being through guidance. Student can consciously utilize my own self in guidance. Student understand the principles of remote control and motor learning.
Content 1. Motor Learning and Exercise Didactics, 2 cr

2. Psychology of Rehabilitation, 2 cr
Changes in life situation and coping with them. Motivation and readiness for rehabilitation as psychic processes. Early support and speaking up. A crisis psychological perspective on rehabilitation.

3. Basics of Teaching and Guidance, 3 cr
Interpersonal skills in customer situations. Counselling and guidance that promotes and strengthens the health and functional capacity of the customer and customer groups. Change phase model. Physiotherapy control methods, as well as instruments and environments. Remote guidance. Utilizing one's own self in therapy work. Basics of pedagogy. Music in physiotherapy.

4. Practical training in teaching and supervising, 4 cr
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Exams, assignments and active preparation and participation in training classes.
Execution methods Independent study, contact teaching, practical exercises, guiding therapeutic groups, holding a teaching event.

The student prepares and participates actively and completes the assigned assignments for the practice lessons.

Further Information Partial credit transfer can be done based on previously completed studies in pedagogy. Didactics and group guidance exercises based on previously completed university-level studies, e.g. physical education instructor or demonstrating competence in a manner to be agreed upon.
