TX00CW39 HVAC and Automation Systems in a Building (5 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites
Objectives HVAC: The student will be familiar with the basics of HVAC systems and healthy indoor conditions.
Electricity: The student will be familiar with the electrical systems and safety regulations in building and also with the general features of the electricity distribution.
Automation: The student will be familiar with the basics of building automation and also with the general features of automation systems
Construction: The student will be familiar in general with the housing construction process, physical functions of buildings and common structural solutions.
Energy Technology: The student will be familiar with the general features of the energy production and distribution.
Content Basic information on the heating, plumbing and ventilation systems. Basics of indoor climate conditions. Basics of HVAC graphic symbols.
Basic information on the electrical installations in the building, basics on the electrical safety regulations and electricity distribution.
Basic information on the automation systems in high level and basics on the building automation (devices and functional principles)
Overview on the house construction process, basics on the building physics and most common structural solutions in small buildings.
Basic profile of the energy production and consumption in Finland, main principles of the energy distribution network.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
