TG00CG58 Energy Engineering (5 cr)

Objectives The student knows the main principles of energy management in Finland. He/she knows the structure and the operational principle of common machinery and equipment and is able to display his/her familiarity with their efficiency and energy calculations. Student is able to collect the information needed and write a report. She/he is able to give a convincing presentation related to the professional field at hand.
Content In the course the most common energy forms and the assemblies in the transformation of the energy are presented. In calculation exercises common efficiency and energy calculations are studied. Pumps mostly used in mechanical and process industry are presented as well as the calcutations of the need of wattage and energy. The most common principles of power production will be presented. Structure and machinery of pipe line systems as well as principles of liquid and gas flow are presented. The student understand basic principles in energy efficiency and primary energy consumption. Reporting and formal writing.
