OE00DY51 Client-Centered Elderly Emergency Care (4 cr)
Prerequisites Passed with distinction
- First two years of study (minimum 120 credits)
- all basic level studies in emergency care and assessment of competence
Objectives The student:
Understands and take into account the specific characteristics of an older person
Assesses and promotes the health and functional capacity of the elderly client and his/her relatives and their ability to manage at home Assesses and promotes the health and functional capacity of the elderly client in acute situations
Knows the multidisciplinary and multidisciplinary care and service system for older people
Assesses the care and service needs of the client and their relatives and advise on appropriate care and support
Provides care to older people using appropriate, evidence-based, care methods, taking into account client and patient safety

Geriatrics:
Understands etiological factors, the clinical picture, and special features of medical care of common geriatric disorders and diseases.

Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
