OE00DW36 Intensive Care Nursing, Practical Training (6 cr)
Prerequisites You have 120 CR.
Objectives 1. As a member of the care team, I plan, implement and assess the health status of the critical care patient, in particular the monitoring of basic organ functions and support for basic organ functions.
2. I apply my knowledge, skills and decision making in critical care nursing in a patient-centred way.
3. I adhere to patient safety, ethical guidelines and principles of nursing and act as a responsible and collegial member of the nursing team at all stages of the nursing process.
4. Communicate with patients and the care team in a professional and context-sensitive manner.
5. I record and report on patient care in accordance with the practice of my placement.
6. As a member of a team, I plan, implement and evaluate critical care work using national and international evidence.
7. I prepare written work related to the safe transfer of an intensive care patient, applying my knowledge of emergency, critical care, intensive care and anaesthesia nursing.
8. I am responsible for the assessment and development of my own skills.
Content 1. Monitoring and securing the vital functions and overall well-being of the intensive care patient.
2. Anticipating and responding to changes in vital signs.
3. Use of care technology and measurements and research results for decision making.
4. Aseptic, ergonomic and patient-safe critical care nursing.
5. Drug management and drug specificities in critical care.
6. Multidisciplinary teamwork, communication, information and continuity of care.

Execution methods 1. I develope my critical care skills during practical training.
2. I apply my emergency care and nursing skills in my work as a nurse in the intensive care unit.
3. I demonstrate my skills in a written assignment related to the practical training.

5. I support patients and their relatives during the care process.
6. I participate in decision-making about patient care, justifying my proposals and actions with reliable evidence, observations and measurements of the patient.
7. I take part in the recording of care.
8. I will describe the main drugs used in intensive care, their effects and indications.
9. I am a reliable and responsible member of the care team.
10. I assess my skills and develop my own activities in a goal-oriented way.
