Description


OE00DW04 Clinical Practicum in Anesthesia Nursing (7 cr)
Prerequisites 1. You have studied emergency care or nursing studies min. 120 CR. You have passed preceding courses medication math.
2. You must study Intensive Care I (5 CR) and Application of Competencies in Anesthesia Nursing (2 CR) before you can start practical training. Before you start practical training, you must show criminal background statement (not over six-month-old) to your tutor teacher.
3. You can take nursing exam (YleSH) when you have min. 163 CR.
Objectives 1. I master the basic knowledge and skills required for the anesthesia nursing, I am able to make decisions and work as a nurse.
2. As a member of the care team, I am able to plan and carry out monitoring of the patient's condition, especially vital signs and identify changes in them.
3. I work ethically and safely using reliable evidence-based information in anesthesia nursing.
4. I communicate with patients and team members in professional manner taking into account the situation
5. I documentate and report patient care, condition and changes in it during anesthesia
6. I am responsible for the assessment and development of my own competence.
Content 1. Monitoring and ensuring the patient's vital functions and overall well-being.
2. Preparing for and anticipating changes in vital functions.
3. Utilization of technology in decision making.
4. Preparing for rapidly changing situations.
5. Asepsis in anesthesia care.
6. Special features and requirements of pharmacotherapy in the anesthesia care.
7. Multi-professional teamwork and continuity of care.

1. I decribe the meaning of anesthesia care as a part of patients care pathway.
2. I assessment the changes of vital signs and need of care during the perioperative care.
3. I use common monitoring devices and care technology.
4. As a part of care team I implement nursing care safely and ethically.
5. I support the patient during perioperative process.
6. I participate decision making and justify my recommendations with evidence based sources and obervations about the patient.
7. I record patient treatment as a part of the care team.
8. I know the most commonly used drugs implications in anesthesia.
9. I am a reliable and responsible member of the care team.
10. I assess my skills and develop my own activities in a goal-oriented way.
