Objectives Part I. Bachelor's Thesis: Viva

The student is able to:

• write an understandable and coherently structured thesis report in good Finnish or Swedish in accordance with the Oamk Thesis Guidelines (2014)
• develop a clearly defined, structured and coherent knowledge base based on appropriate and reliable sources;
• describe comprehensively and reliably the implementation phase of the thesis and its results with appropriate rationale;
• evaluate the results of the thesis in terms of the development of the chosen field and professional growth;
• evaluate, in a reasoned manner, the thesis process and their own learning
• evaluate the benefits of the results for the target group (clients/users) involved in the thesis
• assess the usefulness and usability of the results in collaboration with a partner
• prepare a written maturity report on the basis of their thesis; and
• present the final thesis at a conference or other development forum or to a partner and prepare a self-and peer-evaluation of the thesis.

Part II. Professional and Maturity Test

Maturity test in nursing aims to ensure that graduate nurses demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline of the thesis. Graduate nurses reflect on the level of professional maturity and competencies developed during nursing studies.

Abstract workshop (English teacher) 3 hours

A student is assessed according to the Assessment Framework of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk). Areas of assessment include 1. professional knowledge base and information seeking; 2. professional skill, activity, and target of activity; 3. group work skills and leadership; and 4. responsibility.

Further Information Part I. Thesis supervision is primarily provided in workshops, details of which can be found in the Moodle implementation plan. The theses will be presented at an event, conference, or similar project-specific or other appropriate event agreed with the partner. The presentation will always be agreed upon with the supervisor.

Part II. The student needs to register for the exam in the Exam-system. Further instructions about the exam process can be accessed at https://exam.oulu.fi/. Final Degree Certificate will be issued upon the completion of the Professional and Maturity Test.
