Description


ON00DV39 Intensive and Critical Care Nursing I (5 cr)
Prerequisites Level I and Level II studies are completed without deficits or the student has completed 140 credits of nursing studies and has passed the demonstration of competence in nursing.
Objectives The student is able to:

• draw conclusions from acute and intensive care patients' vital signs and changes in them;
• choose the most essential acute and intensive care nursing procedures;
• describe the nursing environment of acute and intensive care patients;
• describe critically ill patient's progress and maintenance of the care in the hospital (care pathway, Emergency Department, MET, trauma team);
• demonstrates Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) skills;
• implement medication treatment of critical care; and
• use diagnostic studies in the decision-making process in nursing.
Content • Critical Care Nursing (2 ECTS)
• Intensive care (2 ECTS)
• Drug Therapy (1 ECTS)
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Intensive and Critical Care Nursing I and Intensive and Critical Care Nursing II together give the student the skills to work in demanding emergency and intensive care work.

Critical Care I can also be chosen as an elective course.

Intensive Care I is offered in the spring semester.
