Description


ON00DV03 Outpatient Care and Nurse-led Healthcare Services (6 cr)
Prerequisites Level I and Level II studies are ongoing or completed without deficits.
Objectives The student:

• applies multiple patient education methods in coaching and motivating the client in relation to his health and health problems and supports patients´ adherence to care;
• works independently in different nurse-led healthcare services using client-oriented methods and acts in order to promote health and welfare;
• carries out client-oriented outpatient nursing interprofessionally and guides the patient to appropriate care pathways;
• knows the basics of vaccinations;
• is able to help clients in different age groups and with special needs, different backgrounds, and developmental disabilities; and
• applies knowledge of medical conditions in practice.
Content • Client-centered care in nurse-led healthcare services (4 ECTS)
• Medical knowledge and conditions in neurology, ear-, nose- and throat and dermatology
(2 ECTS)

A student is assessed according to the Assessment Framework of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk). Areas of assessment include 1. professional knowledge base and information seeking; 2. professional skill, activity, and target of activity; 3. group work skills and leadership; and 4. responsibility.
