Prerequisites | Level I and Level II studies are completed without deficits or the student has completed 140 credits of nursing studies and has passed the demonstration of competence in nursing. |
Objectives | The student: • plans, implements (communication, documentation), and analyses the care of the client and family members, taking into account the client's situation and overall experience; • describes the problem of addiction and the characteristics of addiction development and how to use assessment, counselling, and assistance methods in substance abuse treatment; • acts as a member of the multidisciplinary team; • evaluates and develops the quality of substance abuse care based on evidence, recommendations, and good practices; and • performs nursing tasks under the ethical guidelines of substance abuse care, legislations, and other norms of substance abuse care. |

Further Information | Students choose their advanced studies in nursing according to their own career plans. It is worthwhile to find out in advance what educational and skills requirements employers have defined for nurses in different work communities. Mental health nursing can also be chosen as an elective course. The prerequisites also apply to elective courses.
