Prerequisites | Level I and Level II studies are completed without deficits or the student has completed 140 credits of nursing studies and has passed the demonstration of competence in nursing. |
Objectives | The student: •identifies the factors in the family, community, and society affecting children's and adolescents' mental health; •explains the policies, guidelines and evidence-based knowledge promoting mental health; •describes the characteristics of mental health problems in children and adolescents and identifies the corresponding care and treatment pathway; and •discusses how to assist and counsel children, adolescents, and families or next of kin in various crises and mental health concerns using a multdisciplinary approach. |
Content | •Family, community, and societal determinants of mental health in children and adolescents •Policies, guidelines and evidence-based knowledge that promote mental health •Child and adolescent mental health problems and their care and treatment pathways •Counselling and support methods for children, young people, and their families in crisis dealing with mental health issues •Multidisciplinary approaches to mental health support for children and young people |
