Description


ON00DU85 Human Anatomy and Physiology (5 cr)
Prerequisites No pre-requisites for enrolment
Objectives The student:

• defines the structure and the main functions of cells, tissues, and organs, and understands the importance of their functions to the human body;
• can locate the vital organ systems of a human body;
• knows the regulation of the body functions;
• understands the most important scientific concepts in human anatomy and physiology; and
• develops theoretical knowledge in human anatomy and physiology applicable to the nursing field.
Content The course is divided into two parts for two consecutive semesters. The first part is 3 ECTS and the second part is 2 ECTS.

Part I (Basic Structures and Functions): Cell. Tissues. Skin. Skeletal and muscular systems. Blood. Cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Lymphatic system. Digestive system. Renal/Urinary system. Reproductive systems.

Part II (Endocrine and Nervous Systems): Endocrine system and hormones. Water and salt balance. Acid-base balance. Glucose balance. Anatomy of the nervous system. Motor functions. Autonomic nervous system. Sense organs. Thermoregulation.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
