Prerequisites | T791103D Finnish Language and Culture 1 or equivalent knowledge of Finnish. |
Objectives | By the end of the course the student can understand and use familiar everyday expressions related to him/herself and everyday situations. The student can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is willing to help. The student knows the essential aspects of Finnish everyday culture and lifestyle. |
Content | Verb types, the basics of the change of the consonants k, p and t in verbs, genitive and partitive cases, possessive structure, the basics of local cases, nominative plural, formal and plural imperative, some word types, comparative and superlative forms of adjectives. The topics: time expressions, making appointments, everyday routines, describing things, telling about hobbies, house types, furniture and household appliances, restaurant phrases, expressing opinions, place names, telling and asking the way phrases, more about Finnish everyday culture. |
