Objectives | By the end of the course the student can understand and use some very common everyday expressions and phrases. The student knows the basic characteristics of Finnish language and communication styles. The student also knows the basics about Finnish everyday culture and habits. |
Content | General information on Finnish language and pronunciation, basic grammatical structures, personal pronouns and their possessive forms, the basics of conjugating verbs and using partitive singular, forming simple affirmative and negative sentences and questions. The topics: Talking about oneself and one's family, describing people, phrases for greeting, saying goodbye, thanking and apologizing, alphabets, numbers, some time expressions, colors, food and drinks, clothes, shopping phrases, talking about weather and seasons, Finnish everyday culture and habits. |
