ID00BO86 Web Programming and Databases (15 cr)
Prerequisites Previous courses of Degree Programme in Information Technology or equivalent skills
Objectives The student is able to design and implement relational databases to different purposes. The student can use ER diagrams to design and document the database.

The student knows the basics of mechanics and is able to make physical measurements and data calculations. The student is able to analyze measurement results and utilize them in different problems.

The student is able to make dynamic web pages using JavaScript in the frontend and PHP in the backend. The student understands the difference between server-side and client-side web programming.

Foreign students: The student can interact in a simple way in Finnish in familiar situations. The student is able to translate some Finnish texts into English or vice versa with the help of dictionaries.
Finnish students: Student will be able to communicate and perform in Swedish in professional context both in Finland and other Nordic countries. He/she will master the professional language skills required at work and will be able to follow and understand the latest publications in the specific professional field in Swedish language. He/she reaches the minimum of level B1.1. as defined in the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Content Databases (3 ECTS): Relational databases, SQL programming.

Mechanics (3 ECTS): Theory and measurements of mechanics

Basics of PHP Programming (3 ECTS): Basics of PHP, using PHP to communicate with the database

JavaScript Programming (3 ECTS): Advanced features of JavaScript programming

Foreign students: Finnish Language and Culture 2 (3 ECTS): More vocabulary and grammatical structures, oral and written activities, Finnish cultural features
Finnish students : Professional Swedish Communication (3 ECTS): Working in Swedish language in professional context both in Finland and other Nordic countries. Communicative situations in working life related to the specific professional field. Authentic study resources in Swedish language related to the specific professional field.
