MD00EO34 Sustainability and Transversal Skills (5 cr)

Objectives The course will focus on competence development with respect to sustainable development and transversal skills. The student will engage with knowledge, skills and attitudes connected to making arts production more sustainable and with a low-carbon footprint. The student will also build an understanding of how transversal skills and engagement with interdisciplinary collaboration and networking can support more sustainable arts and culture work. Students will also be encouraged to articulate the role of digitality in supporting sustainability within their own arts and culture work environments, disciplines and practice.
Content Course will address two key concepts - sustainability and transversal skills - and support students to gain an understanding of how to incorporate these concepts practically into their own artistic and cultural practice. The section covering sustainability (5 ECTS) will explore foundational concepts, use cases, and methodologies at the international level and more specifically the current trends and actions taking place in the arts and cultural sectors to build more sustainable endeavours. The section of transversal skills (5 ECTS) will cover interdisciplinary concepts, applications and cases relating to breaking traditional boundaries between disciplines and sectors, with a focus on topics such as media literacy in the arts sector and global perspectives on arts and culture. A critical perspective on the impact of digital technologies in this space will also be covered. Assignments will explore practical applications of course content into student contexts and project work. Active participation in studies and completing assigned tasks with approval. Achieving competence goals in accordance with the course implementation plan.
