OB00ED95 Exercises of Laboratory Work (3 cr)
Prerequisites Not applicable
Objectives The student will be trained in the use and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment. The student will be trained in the use of chemicals and will be able to prepare solutions reliably and safely. The student will be able to work ergonomically and understand the importance of instrument maintenance from the point of view of aseptics and bioanalysis. The student will comply with occupational health and safety and waste management guidelines.
Content Aseptic work. Use and maintenance of microscope. Use of pH meter and small laboratory equipment. Pipetting techniques and ergonomics, maintenance and calibration of pipettes. Water purification equipment. Weighing of chemicals, preparation of solutions and autoclaving. Instrument maintenance.

The pass mark for the course is received when
- the student works in the team responsibly
- the student performs the tasks according to the instructions given
- the student is familiar with and work in accordance with the safety guidelines for laboratory work (signature on health and safety and waste management folders)
- students takes care of their own equipment maintenance shift
- the student is present at each laboratory exercise
