Description

OB00ED22 The practical part of the clinical physiology (3 cr)
Prerequisites Not applicable
Objectives The student can registrate the most common ECG special couplings and knows the modes of operations at the special occasions. The student recognizes the ECG founding’s that need immediate care. The student can do and guide the spirometry analysis, knows the acceptance limits ja can recognize the error sources.
The student can take care of the maintenance of the ECG and Spirometry devices.
Content ECG special couplings, children’s ECG, long-time registration of ECG, special occasions with ECG. Carrying out the spirometry analysis, PEF and the bloodpressure measuring, ECG- and spirometry analysis quality and founding’s assessment and recognition.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Not applicable

Evaluation Criteria Approved/Failed
Evaluation Criteria

pass/fail
Approved: The student actively participates in the practice work. The student knows the tasks of a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in a clinical physiology laboratory. Students identifies in their learning diary the key concepts, investigations, and clinical applications of clinical neurophysiology. The student will be able to maintain the ECG and spirometry equipment. The student works responsibly in a small group, carries out tasks according to the instructions given and takes care of health and safety at work.
Failed: The student does not actively participate in the training or is absent from the training. The student does not recognize the tasks of a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in a clinical physiology laboratory. Students are unable to identify key clinical neurophysiology concepts, investigations, and their clinical application in their learning diaries. The student does not maintain the ECG and spirometry equipment. The student acts irresponsibly in small groups, neglects health and safety issues and does not carry out assigned tasks as agreed.
