Description
OB00EC78 | Immunology (3 cr) |
Prerequisites | Not applicable |
Objectives | Students will be able to define key concepts in immunology. The student will know the main tissues and cells of the human defence system. The student will be able to describe the main features of the innate and adaptive immunity and the most common disorders of the immune response. The student will know the basic principles of immunological laboratory methods and will be familiar with laboratory tests based on immunological methods. |
Content | Tissues and cells of the immune system. Antigens and antibodies. Innate and adaptive immunity. Inflammatory response. Immune deficiency states. Allergy and autoimmune diseases. Laboratory investigations related to the function of the immune system. Use of immunological methods in laboratory tests. |
Recommended optional programme components | If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan. |
