OB00EE32 Clinical Chemistry Practical Training (5 cr)
Prerequisites Not applicable
Objectives The student will be able to perform basic clinical chemistry investigations under supervision with an understanding of the underlying theory. The student will be familiar with the operation, use and maintenance of clinical chemistry analysers and spectrophotometers. The student will know the applications of immunochemical and electrophoretic methods. The student will have knowledge of quality management principles and can use them to assess the quality of results.
Content Handling and storage of samples to be analysed. Preparation, handling and storage of chemicals and reagents used in analyses. Photometric measurement. Use and maintenance of a clinical chemistry analyser. Immunochemical methods of analysis. Drug testing. Cardiac markers. Application of electrophoresis. Quality assessment and monitoring of clinical chemistry tests.
